SmarterArticles was founded on a simple principle: thoughtful, independent writing about technology and its impact on our lives should be available to everyone.
That isn't changing.
Our articles will remain freely available. We don't put our work behind paywalls, accept payment for editorial coverage, or allow commercial relationships to determine what we write about or what we say.
Independence matters to us.
Running SmarterArticles does, however, have costs. Research, publishing, infrastructure and the tools we use to produce our work all require resources. Until now, those costs have simply been part of running the publication.
We've therefore introduced a way for readers who value what we do to support SmarterArticles directly.
There are no membership tiers, funding targets or special privileges attached. Supporting us won't unlock articles that other readers can't access, and there is absolutely no expectation that anyone should contribute.
