The Writing Process

Every article published on SmarterArticles is authored and editorially controlled by Tim Green. Artificial intelligence tools are used within a structured and supervised workflow as research and drafting instruments. All arguments, framing decisions, source selections, and final publication choices remain human-directed and under my full responsibility.

The process follows a clearly defined, multi-stage methodology.

Research

Research begins with an inquiry-led framework. Each article originates from a central question, often accompanied by up to two follow-up questions that refine and deepen the investigation. This structure forms the intellectual backbone of the piece.

The research phase combines traditional human-led investigation with AI-assisted discovery tools. Search engines, academic sources, policy documents, and primary materials are reviewed directly. AI tools assist in locating and organising relevant material, but they do not replace direct source engagement.

All cited sources are manually reviewed and verified prior to publication.

Drafting

A human-authored draft is developed based on the research findings and structured inquiry. This draft establishes the core thesis, argument progression, analytical framing, and narrative flow.

AI tools may be used during this stage as drafting assistants, helping to refine phrasing, explore structural alternatives, or stress-test arguments. However, the intellectual direction, analytical decisions, and substantive content remain human-driven.

Editorial Review

The draft undergoes a structured editorial process.

An initial AI-assisted editorial pass may generate suggestions relating to clarity, coherence, structure, or language refinement. These suggestions are treated as advisory only.

A subsequent human editorial review audits both the original draft and any AI-generated recommendations. All revisions are assessed manually. No automated changes are published without deliberate human approval.

Fact Checking

Every article is subjected to a rigorous fact-checking process.

Names, dates, events, quotations, statistics, and core assertions are manually reviewed against primary or reputable secondary sources. AI tools may assist in identifying areas requiring verification, but factual confirmation is conducted through direct source examination.

Final responsibility for accuracy rests solely with the author.

Pre-Publication Editorial

The final version of each article undergoes a complete human-only review prior to publication. This stage ensures clarity, accuracy, coherence, and alignment with the original inquiry.

No article is automatically generated or automatically published.

Publication

Publication involves manual preparation, including formatting, citation verification, and asset creation. Header imagery may be generated with the assistance of AI tools, but article content is published only following full human editorial oversight.
